The United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a faculty position at an Assistant professor level - Associate Professor level will be considered for applicants with exceptional research profile. Specialty of applicant should be in the area of theoretical physics, preferably with experience in quantum physics or quantum information. Operational Responsibilities


In this position the successful candidate will oversee the management and development of the equipment and instrumentation of ENTC laboratories with a particular focus on the laboratory research infrastructure for radiochemistry and radioecology experiments within the ENTC’s research theme ‘radiation safety and environment’. The candidate will support an effective and safe operation of the ENTC experimental laboratories in coordination with the University’s Environment Health and Safety (EHS) Department and Research Laboratories. The candidate will test, commission, qualify and maintain various systems, equipment and instruments. The candidate will conduct routine experiments and measurements for the ENTC projects and activities. Rigorous scientific details and adherence to international standards (such as ISO) are important. For each analytical technique, associated sampling and sample processing protocol will need to be established. Liaison with manufacturers and contractors, as well as frequent collaboration with different Stakeholders within UAE (FANR, ENEC) are anticipated.

Advanced expertise in software and codes for the handling of radiation detectors and electronics, efficiency calibrations, measurement uncertainty and sensitivity analyses is an asset.

Advanced knowledge of radiochemical sample processing and experience with (one or more): mass spectrometry, gamma spectrometry, gross alpha/beta counting, liquid scintillation, is an asset.

Prof. Ingyin Zaw, of the Division of Science (Physics) and the Center of Astro, Particle, and Planetary Physics (CAP3) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), seeks to recruit a postdoctoral associate to work in the field of extragalactic astronomy, specifically observations of active galactic nuclei. The successful applicant would be responsible for the analyzing and interpreting the latest multi wavelength (primary radio, X-ray, and optical) observations of these objects, as well as have the opportunity to develop their own projects in this field. In addition to working in a department with a significant number of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students working on a wide array of astronomical projects and have access to data collected by the SDSS-V project and sponsored time on observing facilities (e.g., the Las Cumbres Observatory, Green Bank Observatory, and Very Long Baseline Array).


Applicants must have a PhD in physics, astrophysics, astronomy or related field. Demonstrated experience in reducing radio, X-ray, and/or optical data is strongly preferred, as is experience with python / IDL / C / C++ programming languages. This is a 3 year position with a preferred start date no later than September 2023.
