The KAUST Mechanical Engineering (ME) program seeks candidates at all ranks who will develop a world-class competitive research program in Robotics, Control & Mechatronics, with expertise in Autonomous and Field Robotics, with an applications emphasis in areas such as energy, marine, transportation and agriculture. Topics include multi-robot systems, self-assembly, swarms, human-robot interactions. The candidates should have strong expertise in areas of control, mechatronics or algorithm development. Experience with applying AI/ML tools to robotics problems will be considered an added bonus.
The ME programs plays a pivotal role in supporting KAUST strategic initiatives: artificial intelligence, climate and livability, circular carbon initiative and smart health. Applications that would strengthen our footprint in one or more of these initiatives will be strongly considered.
The ME program focuses on the following areas: fuels and energy, fluid mechanics, materials and solid mechanics, and dynamics and control.

About the Position
The Computational Systems program, within the College of Interdisciplinary Studies, invites applications from faculty with a proven academic record in the broad areas of Artificial Intelligence and/or Machine Learning or related fields. Potential candidates are expected to have an established commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Data Science and Data Mining, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Natural Language Processing, Applications of AI for Emerging Technologies, and Computer Vision are particularly encouraged to apply.
As a faculty member, you will provide practical hands-on instruction in an engaging learning environment, incorporating innovative teaching methodologies to enhance our student's learning experience and achieve learning outcomes. Having a record of interdisciplinary research outputs will be an added advantage. Preference will be given to such candidates whose research reflects such an approach.
Faculty are expected to teach each semester and be active researchers. Additionally, faculty will be expected to engage in service to the college and institution as requested.
About the Computational Systems Program
The Computational Systems program provides the scientific foundations to develop solutions for natural, human-mediated, and social phenomena through analytics, modeling, and application of computational methods. While the core courses in the program build on principles and foundations, the advanced courses focus on three concentrations: machine intelligence, applied data science, and digital security. Students will be enabled to deliver competitive products that leverage artificial intelligence to meet industry needs, data science for decision-making support, and ensure security to protect society in this digital age.
Qualifications
Doctorate in a relevant discipline as described above, from an accredited university that is, or can be, equalized by the UAE Ministry of Education.

Profile:
PhD degree in a relevant IT/Engineering (Artificial Intelligence or Cyber Security) discipline from a recognized university is preferred.

Prior working knowledge of BTEC programs offered by Pearson is preferable
