The United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a faculty position at an Assistant professor level - Associate Professor level will be considered for applicants with exceptional research profile. Specialty of applicant should be in the area of theoretical physics, preferably with experience in quantum physics or quantum information. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and student advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels, a demonstrable strong research capability that will enable the candidate to develop and sustain an internally and externally funded research program in his/her area of expertise, publish his/her research findings in refereed journals, and actively engage in promoting the growth of the UAE University. Minimum Qualification


The candidate must hold a PhD degree in the area of Theoretical Physics (preferably in quantum physics or quantum information). Teaching experience and a good number of Q1 publications as determined by the Scimago Journal Ranking system are preferable .

The appointed candidate will be the Abu Dhabi based lead of a cross-disciplinary and international collaboration with the Developmental Mechanobiology group at the Institute of Molecular Genetics (IMG), Prague.


This collaboration combines breakthrough methods pioneered by our group, to measure the dynamic condensation of transient structures in living cells, with expertise in optogenetics and developmental mechanobiology, developed at IMG, Prague, to address multiple outstanding questions in the fields of mechanobiology, and the statistical physics of living systems.

We are open to applicants with a PhD in any relevant discipline. More specifically, the role will require the successful candidate to:


 


Be proactive in networking; establishing and maintaining a productive relationship with industry, community and parents 

Improve employment rate of graduates by providing industry focused programs and ensuring engagement of industry players  

Ensure optimum academic performance of Faculty and Academic Support Staff

Supervise the delivery of educational programs and curriculum

Endeavour to achieve high standards of academic performance

Work with Accreditation bodies to ensure compliance and maintain accreditation of programs

Lead and motivate staff for improved performance and maintain a productive workforce

Teach specified hours as required

Candidates must possess:


 


•           Master Degree in a relevant Engineering field is essential, Ph.D. is  preferred


 


•           10 years’ experience in Management of Higher Education including a Leadership Role, along with industry experience


 


•           Clear Understanding of the Vocational Education Sector
