AUM Liberal Arts Department (LAD) is recruiting full-time faculty members as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor for its Social Science Department.


Job requirements


The applicants must have a doctorate or equivalent in the relevant field with a demonstrated excellence in teaching and research with a publication track record in indexed journals.


Faculty members will be committed to AUM’s mission and its learner-centered approach by:


Being involved in teaching activities related to specialization courses and other common courses relevant to the applicant educational and/or professional background

Significantly contributing to the advancement of the research activities

Passionately supporting the college and departmental wide activities and services with a spirit of leadership, commitment, accountability, and collegiality

Specific teaching and research interests for the position(s)


Teach introductory level courses in Sociology and other General Education electives on areas of soft skills and student success skills:  


Prepare course materials such as syllabi, presentations, and assignments in collaboration with other faculty members teaching the same courses;

Deliver student-centered lectures through the effective use of available learning management systems (Moodle and Banner); 

Administer and grade formative and summative assessments, and provide feedback;  

Maintain regularly scheduled office hours for students and attend regular faculty meetings; 

Conduct research and publish findings by adhering to the institution's policies.

Location


AUM is located at Al-Eqaila, an urban area of Al-Ahmadi Governate in Kuwait. Al-Eqaila is a quiet area that has a distinctive location close to the sea and is 30 km away from the Capital, Kuwait City. Al-Eqaila also has green spaces and features a wide variety of shopping centers, restaurants, cafes, and recreational spots.

The Division of Arts and Humanities at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications for an open rank, multi and interdisciplinary, full-time tenure/tenure-track faculty position. We seek a scholar and educator whose scholarship and experiences bridge the studies of places, movements and environments with the Arts and Humanities focused on the Middle East, North Africa, and Indian Ocean world. The scholarship of applicants should encompass Cultural Theory, Anthropology and Ethnography, Music, Migration and Human Geographies. The ideal candidate must have a strong publication record suitable for tenure at New York University. Commitment to teaching excellence, supervision of BA, MA and PhD students, and strong record of service to their current and previous institution are required.

Applicants should also have experience in higher-level administration including expanding undergraduate programs and developing graduate programs and directing departments. We seek a colleague who will lead our students in investigations that intertwine art practices and scholarly disciplines.

Qualifications:

This position requires a PhD in either or a combination of the following fields: Cultural Theory, Anthropology and Ethnography, Migration and Human Geographies. Fluency in Arabic and other languages is strongly desired.
